Typically a Corn develops as a result of constant friction or pressure.
Sometimes just walking may cause pain and discomfort. Corns and calluses on the feet can be produced by poor walking motion, which might become more uncomfortable if not treated.
The majority of corns are caused by ill-fitting shoes, and specifically shows that are too narrow.
Wearing shoes or sandals without socks, which causes friction on the feet, are further risk factors for developing a corn or callus.
The worst offenders are high-heeled shoes. They exert strain on the toes, making women four times more prone than males to have foot problems.
You are more likely to develop corns or calluses if you have medical conditions that change the normal alignment of the bones in your feet.
Conditions that can relate to Corn recurrence include:
A corn is a thickened circular region of skin. They commonly appear as yellowish dead tissue encircling an area of discomfort on the soles of feet or the tops or sides of toes.
The following are some methods for preventing corns.
To prevent corns from recurring, the cause must be eliminated.
Your podiatrist can work with you to determine the source of your corn troubles and recommend a treatment plan.
To soften corns and reduce pressure, certain soaks or sports socks and pads may be recommended. Alternately, a knife maybe used to remove thicker dead tissue from the corn and relieve pressure on your feet.
Your Footwear will be examined and you will be encouraged to wear proper footwear where required.
It is possible that treatment for underlying bone abnormalities will be recommended.
